YAY! Surgery!!

I am going in next Tuesday (Oct 21) to get my Gallbladder removed!
How's that for an opener! When I was 6 months pregnant with Gary I started getting horrible stomach aches! Picture this if you will, someone, anyone, for whatever reason, walks up to you and just takes one, a punch that is, right into your stomach! I'm not talking about your belly button stomach, I'm talking right under your breastbone, right beneath your sternum, where your stomach actually is. It hurts right? Maybe it's hard to breath, well of course it's hard to breath you just got punched in the stomach dork! Can't really do anything but buckle over?! Of course! Well, once a month I would, for lack of a better term, get punched in the stomach. (Now this is where Greg would pipe in "I was at work!!!") They lasted for an hour, it was awful!! I spoke with my Dr. and she said it was probably gallstones but there wasn't anything she could do till after I had the baby. So i just watched my fatty food intake.....sorta....Ok I didn't!! But I did notice that they occurred more often then not when I ate more fatty food then normal. So last Sunday the 5th I had a doosey of one! It lasted for at least 4 hrs, I was balling, couldn't stand up...everything we went through earlier. It happened again Friday but only for an hour so I called and made an appointment to have it checked out. Friday night it came back so I went into urgent care. They determined that it was gallstones. I had an ultra sound Monday, they found out I had a lot of them and I needed my gallbladder out sooner rather then later! Which brings us back to doe (a little music humor there...remember the song from "The sound of music" doe, a dear a female dear, ray, a drop of golden sun.....yah) I am going in next Tuesday (Oct. 21) to have my Gallbladder removed!

Vacation!!

What's new with me?! We blessed Gary. and my mom, dad, brother and aunt came. Greg's parents (who live 1/2 a mile from us), sister and her family from Maple Vally, and grandparents from Utah were there. We took some really nice pictures and when we were done, I went with my parents and I spent a very nice week at my mom's in Walla Walla. While I was there My older sister Sejena came up from La Grande with her son Ewan who's 5 and just started kindergarten. It was fun to have everyone home. My little sister and her family live with my parents. My brother is home from school for a bit. And then I took the boys and went. It was a bit of a reunion. It was so much fun to watch the boys play with each other. While we were there we got pics taken with the boys in matching shirts. So Cute! After a week Greg took a couple days off work and came down and we went up to Spokane to see his other grandparents so they could see the boys. On the way up to Spokane Isaac threw up 5 or 6 times. It's a 3 hr. drive and he thew up the whole time! It seemed like every 1/2 hr we were pulling over to change his shirt and clean him up. We were finally able to stop and let him get out for a bit, let him eat something and stop moving. That all seemed to help because he was just fine for the rest of the day. We stayed at a hotel in Spokane (Yay for employee discounts) and took the boys swimming. We came home the next day and Greg and I had fun day dreaming about what we would do with an unlimited amount of money. It was a really fun trip and a very relaxing week!

Funny Discoveries

So Saturday as Isaac is driving me crazy and I have run completely out of patience by 10am, Greg says to me, "Honey, why don't you take the boys somewhere?" And I think to my self...are you insane?! You want me to take 2 boys...under the age of 2 out in public by my self?! But of course I didn't say it, I just made up some excuse as to why I couldn't. I eventually decided that I should just pull my self up by my boot straps and do it. So I packed up my 2 boys and we went to the park. The discovery?! It felt so good to get out of the house. Isaac was amazing and Gary slept in the snugly the whole time! I rewarded him with chicken nuggets from McDonald's and we came home. Isaac slept for 3 hrs and when he got up we went out again! I managed to go to Wal-Mart (lets face it, you may fight them and not want them in your town but we all know that when they come, because they will come, you'll shop there!!) and then to the mall with out spending any money! The only money I spent that day was the gas in my car and the $3 for lunch! I was so impressed with my self restraint and Isaac being so good all day as we basically spent the whole day killing time. No purpose what so ever being out or being where we were, just to kill time and pass the day. Our Saturday was filled with absolute pointless wanderings. I got nothing accomplished but it sure felt good to just be out of the house!!! When Greg is right it's a love hate relationship. I love that his advice worked and hate the fact that I didn't think of it and doubted him!

HeCticNesS

What a week!! So last Tuesday the 5th Isaac stepped on a screw while playing on the water slide at Greg's parents house. nothing major, a minor cut on the bottom of his foot. Friday i take him to the Dr to make sure it's healing and he doesn't need any kid of shot. He didn't and the cut was fine. Isaac, however, had Roseola (Baby measles). Come to find out Roseola is contagious 4 days before the break out and 4 days after the break out. We were confined to our apartment for a week!!! I had to call every parent of every child he had played with in the past week and tell them that Isaac had the measles and the symptoms that they should look for in their child. In the mean-time we had to keep poor sick Isaac away from Gary (Whom he loves dearly and didn't like the fact that he couldn't hug and kiss his baby brother and didn't understand why) and he was cranky...and i mean Cranky!!!! He is no longer contagious and his rash has cleared, Gary on the other hand has developed a rash. We've taken him to the Dr. twice and they keep telling us that because he has no fever and has none of the symptoms of Roseola, he's fine, but they won't tell us what the rash is or what it's from. Illness is frustrating!!!

Welcome Gary!!!

Tuesday, July 15th, at 10:33pm, our family welcomed Gary Allen Buchanan into this world! He arrived weighing 7 lbs 12 oz and measuring 20 1/4 inches. His arrival was an exciting one to say the least. It all started Monday the 14th (his due date) when i started having minor contractions 10-20 Min's apart. Greg went to work expecting to get a call to come home but no such luck. They lasted all day and all night and at 5 am Tuesday morning they started getting worse and were 5-10 Min's apart. Greg called into work thinking we were going to be going to the hospital soon. At NOON i called the nurse and they told me to come to the hospital to get checked and see if they would admit me. We got to the hospital about 1:30 and after checking me out, waiting, lots of irregular, painful, contractions, and lots of walking, at 3 they decided to admit me. I was admitted, took a bath (which i HIGHLY recommend when your in labor!!!!) and waited....and waited, at 6:30pm, and 7cm I convinced my Dr that an epidural would be a good idea BEFORE she broke my water. This whole time they kept turning me to my right side, left side, back over and over. At 9 pm 6 nurses arrived in my room and were literally flipping me from one side to the other and then to my back and then on my knees and elbows, to my sides and my back and then one of them got a call from the room they were assigned to and informed them that they were just going to have to wait because she was in the middle of an emergency!! next thing we know my Dr is in the room telling us that they baby's heart rate has dropped and i have stopped dialating and they were going to have to do an emergency C-section (thank goodness they were letting Greg go with me)!! So they prepped Greg and I for surgery, Greg and his dad gave me a blessing and right after they were done, the heart rate went up and i started dialating again! They decided to wait it out for a bit to see if it would stick, so they didn't have to do a surgery they didn't have to. at around 10:20ish i started pushing and at 10:33 Gary was born. They didn't have to do any surgery and I only had to push for 14 Min's. It was the scariest thing Greg and I have ever gone through! I am so thankful for the power of the priesthood! How blessed our family is to have worthy men that can preform such an amazing thing! It was a real faith building experience for both of us. We are so grateful for such an amazing blessing!

Allergy Frusterations!!

When Isaac started eating baby food we discovered (and by we i mean my dear mother) that Isaac was allergic to apples and oranges. His Dr. said something to do with the acidity of them upset his stomach, as it wasn't a serious allergy, he just thew up whatever he ate if it had apple or orange anything in it. Which meant i couldn't by juice if it had any kind of apple juice in it, which meant it was Welches 100% Grape juice for our family because it's the only juice that doesn't sweeten there juice with apple juice, because, by the way, just because the bottle says 100% juice....doesn't mean it's 100% of that kind of juice! anyways...Good news is he can now handle the apple juice, orange were still working on slowly but surely but apple is good to go! Yesterday we went swimming over at Grama Buchanan's so i put water babies on him to prevent the sun burn because he has his fathers coloring, white! By the time we get home last nite his chest and cheeks are all rashed and hive like! YAY!!! New allergy! Isaac is allergic to Water babies sunscreen!! It seems like every time i turn around he has a new allergy! Any suggestions when it comes to sunscreen for kiddos that isn't water babies?

July 4th Traditions

We went to the Tacoma Rainiers game last night. We go every year. They have a July 4th celebration game on July 3rd that we have turned into our family tradition. It's a lot of fun and it helps us get in that patriotic mood for the 4th of July. Isaac loved the game even though it kept him up WAY past his bedtime (which he never handles well at all). He loved the fireworks even though they were loud. And he loved the food that everyone kept feeding him. We went with greg's family. His sister Christie, her husband Ben and their 2 girls, Makayla (Who turned 4 yesterday, she was excited to go to a baseball game on her birthday) and Lilly (Who just turned 2, 3 weeks ago). His mom and dad also came with us! We had a blast!! We did loose the game 5-3 but it was fun anyways! I put some pics up to check out!

My Business!

For those of you that don't know, I am a PartLite consultant! PartyLite is a candle company that sells only the highest quality of candles. You can check out the website at http://www.partylite.com/ for a peek at what they offer. The candles are very kid safe, which i know sounds odd but it's true. The candles burn very clean, the wax will burn to liquid, but it never gets hot! So if a little one were to grab it and spill the wax on them it will NOT burn them! The wicks are made of cotton so they will not blacken your candle holders! The candle holders are tested like toys! If the company thinks there might be something wrong with a product they will not sell it! I go around and do party's for friends and family. It's wonderful because I can stay at home with our little one...soon to be ones, and make some money for the fun things in life...or lately the gas it takes to do the fun things in life! If you have anymore questions about them or like what you see on the website and would like to order something let me know and we can work something out!

Meet the Fam!

Our family consists of 3...soon to be 4 people. Greg (dad), Sonya (Mom), Isaac (15 months), and Soon to be Gary (3 week count down). We are your typical American family. Greg works the corporate job, I'm a stay at home mom, and our first to kids will be 16 months apart. We love our life. Nothing ever goes wrong....HA!! Who am I kidding! We have our days! Mainly Fridays and Mondays because Greg works 2 jobs so that I can stay home. That was his choice not mine! We don't have much free time, but when we do have time we like to watch baseball, go to the park, and just hang out with family. We're not the most exciting people in the world but we like to think we are fun! Enjoy looking around and come see us soon!
