Trip to Cali!

This last weekend we took a trip to California to visit my grandparents who have been serving a mission in Nauvoo for the past 2 yrs. They left 2 weeks before Isaac was born and had only seen him for 10 mins between flights when they flew back for a funeral.
It was a very short trip leaving Friday morning putting us there about 4 Friday afternoon (it's a good 7-7.5 hr drive) We got there and just relaxed, had a super yummy pork roast dinner. Saturday we went up to Mt. Shasta to play in the snow! and then back to the house to hang out some more. Isaac played outside, all day, everyday while we were there! Their yard is totally fenced off so it was nice to just turn him loose! It was nice weather (and by nice i mean low to mid 60's) and all in all very relaxing. Grampa showed me the garden, orchard and green house. gave me tips for my future garden and watering needs. I wish I had pics but silly me forgot the camera and believe it or not, I can't get my pics off my phone because our computer has no slot for memory cards....that I can find (help Greg!). We left Sunday morning and got home around 3 or 4. We had a blast and Grama and Grampa had a blast with the boys! they were down on the floor playing with them the whole time! I have never heard my Grama laugh so much in my entire life!! It was fun for Gary to meet his namesake and learn how to crawl while we were there. Isaac loved playing outside with the swing set, bike, wagon, and all the room he had to just run and be a curious little boy!!

House?!

Some exciting news!! Greg and I have recently qualified for the Northwest Housing Development program. For those of you who aren't familiar with this program it is similar to habitat for humanity except we pay for our house. There will be a group of 6 families building in our neighborhood, and we will all build each others house. We build in stages so we do every ones foundation, every ones framing, siding and so on. This way the houses are done about the same time. There is a professional on site to supervise and help, they do multiple inspections throughout this process, and they teach us how to properly build each part of the house. In the end we build over 65% of the house. They contract out plumbing, electrical, and the cabinetry. We are awaiting our load acceptance which we should find out about with in the next week or 2. If we are accepted, which we think looks pretty good, we can start building in June. They say to expect 10-12 months to build depending on how well the group works together. We're hoping our move in date would be between April and June. We would be moving up to Graham Wa. which is only about an hour from where we are now. We can have friends and family help which is great since we are required at least 35 hrs a week of building time. So if you're in the area and can swing a hammer (or are willing to babysit while we swing our hammers)....come on down!! You're our next contestant on build that house!!!!

I need Jeans!!!

I decided that I want to do something fun, easy and crafty. I tried the whole scrapbook thing and realized that until my kids are old enough to play by themselves all day, scrapbooks are not for me. One of my favorite blogs, Little Birdie Secrets, has had a tutorial on how to make a jean picnic quit and I decided that it looked easy enough. I was thinking it would be fun to keep in the car for park days or spur of the moment picnics on a Saturday afternoon coming this summer! So...here is my request! If you have any jeans that you were planning on getting rid of, send them my way! I'll need about 12 pairs, doesn't matter the size, adult or kids. Decorations on the jeans is just fine (it will add character!). I'm excited about this and think it would be a great starter project to my desire to be a little more crafty and "homemaker"ish. Let me know what you got!!! If you like you can email me.

Take me out to the Ball Game!!

We went to the BEST mariners Game last night!! And by We I mean Greg, Isaac, Ben (Greg's brother in-law) and myself. we decided to let Gary spend his 9 month bday with Greg's mom.
We were in the 7th row!! This was our view!! It came with a warning! "Please stay alert to bats and balls leaving the field" Sadly we didn't catch anything, balls or bats. They came close but not close enough.

Isaac got to meet the moose! He liked him clear up until Greg took the picture! As we walked away Isaac yelled "Thank you Moose!"

That's right!! That's Griffey!!! We got there early enough to watch the players warm up!

"That's where I'm hitting my 400th HR as a Mariner!!"
I don't know if that's what he was saying but that's what he did and that's where it went!!
It was fun to see him joke around and laugh with the other players!
Welcome home!!

Everyone in major league wore the #42 in honor of Jackie Robinson who was the first African American to step foot onto a baseball field! Last night was the 62nd anniversary of that and it was incredible to see!
And who can forget the other main event!!
I-CHI-RO!
I-CHI-RO!!
I-CHI-RO!!!

Isaac loved the game! He had a blast dancing and yelling! Every time the crowd cheered he would yell "BE QUIET!!!"

Here's Griffey doing what he does best! He hits...He runs!!!!
It was an Incredible night! Back to back home runs! An amazing catch off the wall by Gutierrez!!! Ichiro's Grand slam and Griffey's 400th home run as a mariner!! 7 runs in the 7th inning!! A win against the Angles 11-3!!!
Baseball season truly is our favorite time of the year! We go as often as we can. At least 1 mariners game and at least 1 Raineers Game (they are our minor league team). And if we can't go we watch!!
It is time. It is spring. With spring comes baseball!!! My oh My!!

Gotta love the bribes!!

Yesterday while I was sitting in Relief Society, one of the nursery leaders brings in Isaac (odd, Isaac LOVES nursery) he wasn't crying or looked like he had been but looked happy to see me. I took him to which she let me know that he was stinky! "Great!!!" Luckily she offered to take Gary while I changed stinky bum here. I took him, took care of business, and then took him back to nursery....he didn't want to go!! "What?! You DON'T want to go back to nursery?! OK....Then come with me!" We go back to RS and we sit down. He then proceeds to tell me all about nursery and starts goofing off. When I made him sit still and be quiet he then began to cry. I took him out and knelt down, looked him in the eyes and said "Isaac, if you're not going to stay in nursery then you have to sit with mommy in relief society and be quiet. So you can either go to nursery and PLAY...or sit quietly with mommy and be still." after 30 seconds of contemplation he looked at me and mumbled "nursery" "OK then, lets go" I took him back to nursery and he ran right in! I then returned to nursery just in time for the closing song!

A Razor, Flowers, and Ice Cream

Greg spoils me. I have had a Rotten week. It's just been one thing after another and it seems that everyday Greg has someway of making it better. Monday he brought home flowers and Taco Bell nachos (one of my weaknesses). Wednesday he brought home Ice Cream (a must have in our house). Thursday morning, I realized half way through my shower, I was out of razor blades so he let me use his razor! Today (Saturday) was probably one of the worst days and tonight he surprised me with creamsicles!!! I love the fact that when I have a rotten day (whether or not it was his fault) He knows exactly how to make it better! I am his and he is mine, For Time and all Eternity!

I'm LOUD!!!!

No!! Not that kind of loud!!
When I get mad...I'm loud!! I can't "talk" my way through it....I yell my way through it. Why can't people just understand that when I get mad, I yell! And to just let me yell it out would take a lot less time then standing there telling me to stop yelling and talk about it, because that just makes me more mad and I just keep yelling and yelling louder and louder! Who cares if the neighbors hear! At the time...I'm mad and I don't care who hears!!!! Accept it...I'm LOUD!!!

PLAY BALL!!!

It's here!!! It's baseball season!! What does that mean? For my family it means the following:
Sunshine
Green Grass
Screaming
Hot Dogs
Fast Balls
Curve Balls
Slow Balls
Sliders
Mariners
Rainiers
I could go on an on.
Our family LOVES baseball! From Greg to Gary. From Nana B. To Grandma B.
We love everything about baseball! Going to games, watching them on TV, Eating hot dogs (wherever we are), Hearing the crack when the ball hits the bat. The yell of the umpire, "Steee-RIKE" or "Ball 1, Ball 2, Ball 3, Ball 4" The sound of the Train (you know what I mean you Safecoers) The smell of the freshly cut grass, the 7th inning stretch, the homeruns, the strikeouts, the jerseys (eh girls?!), EVERYTHING!!! We love baseball and we love this time of year!

How much do I love spring?

I love spring! Here's a few reasons:

Napping in the sunshine!
Shorts!!
And of course my weekness: Flip Flops!!!

I went out shopping today (I had to go get a potty chair for Isaac) and I had my windows down, Cool air on, in my capris and flip flops, boys in their shorts and sandles, music up, wind in my hair, sun in my face filling my body with the warmth it has been desperatly searching for, and I thought to my self....how could you not LOVE spring?! It's been cold and snowing for months!! The sun is out! My thermometer in my car has not seen a 7 on the left side of the numers in a VERY long time!! Life is SOOOOO much better when it's warm outside, don't you think?! You can open your doors and windows, get fresh air, put on your shorts, t-shirts, and sandles!!! I love everthing that comes with spring. The park days, the fresh air flowing through my house, the ridding of clutter, dust, and all around stuffyness that comes with winter and closing of doors and windows. I love the flowers blooming, birds chirping, deer grazing in my backyard I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Spring!!!!!!

I let my kids walk barefoot

I know...2 posts in 1 day?! Wow! But this just cracked me up so I had to share!

I babysit this little girl that is the same age as Isaac. I think their a whopping 2 weeks apart. I was taking her home and had to wake up Isaac. So I took Celest and Gary down to the car and then I got Isaac out of bed (he's got on basketball shorts and a t-shirt). I threw on his Seahawks hoodie and wrapped him in his blanket (its like 40 outside) and took him down and put him in the car. I dropped Celest off with her sister and then came home. I took Gary out of the car and then unbuckled Isaac so he could climb out. He did and we headed the entire 10 feet to the bottom of the stairs at our apartment. One of our neighbors was getting out of her car (I have never spoken to this particular neighbor, not for any reason, just because we have never needed to or really had anything to say to each other) looked at Isaac and asked, "shouldn't he have shoes on?" I looked at her, then looked at him, and said, "No." and finished hauling my kids up the stairs and inside. She didn't seem like it really offended her or for that matter really effected her. I just laughed! It's 10 feet and 13 stairs!! Does he really need shoes?! What's he gonna step on....a rock?! I realize there COULD be hazardous stuff but I pay attention and it's not like we live with a bunch of druggies so there's needles all over the ground! It's just nature! I believe it was meant to be stepped on. Shoes or no shoes!

6:30am....REALLY?!?

I love my kids!!

I live for them, I would die for them, and if needed I'm pretty sure I would kill for them (you know if some horrible animal was attacking them....I would kill). They are my life, my love and my world. But 6:30!!!!!

I am SOOOOO not a morning person! Anything before 9 or10am is early for me.

We are on day 1 Million Bajillion of gett up at 6:30am!!! I don't know how to make it stop!!! I'm so tired!! Gary luckily still takes a nap after being up for an hour and a half, and Isaac is pretty self entertaining so i can lay on the floor or couch but nothing compares to the huge honkin pillow bed I have! Fortunatly they will take a good 2-3 hr nap at the same time in the afternoon. Unfortunatly they usually fall asleep just as the little girl I babysit arrives. There goes that idea!

So because it takes my brain a good 2 hrs to join the rest of my body, Isaac gets a ziploc bag of cereal and a cup of milk infront of playhouse disney when he wakes up in the morning.

When I took him in for his 2 yr check up his Dr asked how much TV he watches, I smiled, laughed and told her "I'll be perfectly honest. Isaac watches at least 3-4 hrs of TV in the morning. We do TRY and turn it off at 1030-11 but it doesn't happen all that often!" She just sat there with this shocked look on her face. I thought it was because of how much tv he watched and then she said "That is the most honest answer I think I've ever gotten!" then proceeded to tell me that she only wanted him watching 1-2 hrs a day! I smiled and nodded my head all the while thinking "Yah right! You're not the one that has to get up with them at 6:30!!!!!!

Now then, if your one of those "chipper in the morning because the sun is up and it's going to be a glorious day" kind of people....My hat off to you....Kudos....Mass props and all of that!! *Love you mom* I'm not! My kids are!! This seems to be a problem! They used to sleep till 8-830! What happend!? Why do they feel the need to wake up so early...nothing changed! They don't have a new bedtime...they light didn't change any...It's still super dark in their room (Thanks to Navy blue curtains...greatest thing since sliced bread) I don't get it! We need to figure this out because my kids can't keep waking up to this in the morning!!
